Eggs

  • inaspin by inaspin

Is it safe to assume that because a penguin is sitting in a nest (pile of stones) that there is an egg, or eggs present? I've seen docos where the egg is placed between the feet - is this the action that we are specifically looking for?

Hi - no, while we might be able to assume that sometimes when we analyse the data, we're only looking to mark eggs that are really visible. Eggs get lost or obscured, so it might be several days between seeing them.

It's important to only mark the things you can see as we're looking to gradually teach a computer how to do this, which needs clear images.

The eggs are probably the hardest thing to see - most of the time we can infer when they lay the egg and hatching from a change in behaviour.

Triffic - Ta. Hard to know just what to do at the start of a project.
