Do you count them if they look dead?

    Hi Tiger,

It's a very good question but the answer is not easy...

We prefer marking all chicks even the dead ones and let the scientists to decide whether they're really dead or not since many many users consider lying chicks to be dead even when they're not 😦 which is not good for the results since there are usually many living chicks just taking a nap lying on the ground with their flippers and legs spread widely to cool themselves down.

But of course, when you see a shrunken chick torn into pieces, it is useful to mark it as alive and the same for those being eaten by a predator!

To make the classification simple for the newbies we decided to ask to mark all chicks you can see..

Thanks for your question, hope it is clearer to you now 😃
