I was not sure which were adults and chicks. Hard to tell. maybe there weren't any chicks there.

It is often hard to tell if they are adults or large chicks.
With Gentoos, the most obvious difference is that adults have the white head markings and are really shiny black in colour (like the one at front left). The chicks are more grey and fluffy and don't have the head markings.
If in doubt, please mark them as adult.
If you have a look at the breeding cycle here it will give you an idea of what time of year you can expect to see chicks.NickyPeng
