Help with distinguishing penguins

  • marsicovetere by marsicovetere

If part of a penguin is present do you still count it? For example the penguin in the top left corner, the head has been cut out?
If the penguin is in the background like the couple that are centre behind the rocks do you count them? It is also hard to tell if they are adults or juveniles?

Hello! Yes please do count a penguin even if you cannot see it all. The tutorial confirms this.

Take a look at our breeding cycle information here: breeding cycles help From this you will see that these are adult penguins that are nesting now. The penguins sat on those pebble mounds will be brooding the eggs. Watch out for the chicks appearing as the date moves into January by a week or so.

The FAQs give more information about: how the chicks and adults look different

Make sure you read through all of the FAQs (doesn't take long) because it will help you to enjoy PW even more 😃
