Penguin Watch Talk

Juveniles?

I was not sure whether some of these would count as "chicks". Some did not seem to have the white flash on their heads but I did not know how to get back to the pop-up that shows the birds at different stages.

It can be difficult to tell, especially for your first images. It becomes easier with experience, especially as you learn how to recognize other signs of adult vs chick. One tip- Remember that our helpful FAQs specify that when we can't tell whether a penguin is an adult or chick to always mark as adults.

Also, to include distant penguins that can't be accurately marked, we are told to use "Too many penguins to count" (same as for partially obscured penguins). Follow the FAQs and do ask again when you need help- we're glad to walk you through. 😃
