Penguin Watch Talk

seeing chicks

  • lackingdaisys by lackingdaisys

sometimes it is hard to tell if they are chicks or not, more pictures with chicks circled as examples would be helpful in the tutorial. Also, the ability to zoom would help in this project, some of the chicks in this photo that I have marked are curled up under their parent's and it is hard to see them and to be sure that they are indeed babies and if so how many.

Hi and thanks for your thoughtful comments. Zoom is not in the plans for this project, but we have an outstanding Frequently Asked Questions section that should take care of your marking questions. Here's an easy link for FAQ: https://talk.penguinwatch.org/#/boards/BPZ0000007

We never ask you to guess on Penguin Watch, so work slowly and mark only what you are sure of. Your classifications are compared to all others who mark this image, so accuracy is excellent even with little mistakes. We ask that anytime you are uncertain if a penguin is a chick or adult, always mark as adult. If unsure if there are 1 or 2 chicks in a nest, mark as 1.

Does that help, please? We thank you very much for the care you take in marking these sometimes challenging and always valuable photos.
