Welcome to Penguin Watch, @Ghunshot . Thank you for your thoughts. Please read the FAQ to understand what you will see and how to mark accurately. 😃 FAQ 6 explains how to mark these cormorants, also called shags. Cormorant chicks (dark brown fluffy) and adults are all marked the same way: Mark as Other, then OK, no need for species. Seals and any other animal not included on the Other list are marked the same way. This site often includes penguins as you see, far right. Please mark only what you're sure of, and when in doubt if a penguin is chick or adult, please always mark as Adult. (FAQ 4.)

The Other list currently includes only land predators, human visitors, and vessels, all of which have an impact on the nesting penguins and chicks. It is not necessary to add cormorants to that list, since they are fish eaters and co-exist with the penguins. The scientists have carefully set up Penguin Watch to meet the needs of their studies. Scientists, moderators, and Zooniverse programmers and developers, have been improving and expanding the project according to the needs of the research for several years now.

Thanks again for taking time to post, and for joining in with the thousands who are helping the penguins by classifying photographs on Penguin Watch.
