Construction of nests

Each penguin has its own semi-neat, small mound of pebbles to nest on. Amazing. How do they do it?? Carry the pebbles in their beaks, move it with their feet or push it with their beaks? 😃

As far as I know they collect pebbles using their beaks. Males are trying to impress females by collecting the pebbles for them. At big colonies where the stones are rare, the penguins are used to steal them from neighbors' nests!

WillowSkye the pebbles generally are collected in the adults beaks, although they aren't adverse to kicking pebbles especially if stealing from a neighbour.
