Chick

In the image there is one chick all on it's own but I couldn't mark it.

There are no chicks in October, but there is indeed one adult visible with its head tucked out of sight. Many of us will mark this image, so I expect others will have marked the adult. No worries!

Here's a link to a Breeding Cycle chart in the FAQs. It's helpful in determining likely chick dates. http://talk.penguinwatch.org/#/boards/BPZ0000007/discussions/DPZ00002pg

Yes, exactly as @gardenmaeve said, the date can help you decide whether chick can be present in the frame. We prefer marking penguins as adults in cases when you can't be sure it is a chick (telling by the presence of signs of maturity..).

But more important thing, what was the reason you couldn't mark it? Was it a technical problem of the site?

    Thanks!
