penguin all alone

Can anyone explain why there is only one penguin here on April 30th? I remember this site, jammed full of penguins last season.

Gentoo penguins change nesting grounds yearly. Gentoos may just move a few feet or hundreds of miles, so Gentoo rookery populations will vary when recorded by the cameras.
In this photo, as AvastMH has explained, this visible penguin and all other chicks and adults of the colony must finish moulting before heading out to sea.
