Penguin Watch Talk

Large birds with dark bodies and white heads

  • AmeliaJ92 by AmeliaJ92

There are about four birds towards the back in the center of this picture that do not appear to be penguins. They are dark with white heads. I tagged them as gulls because from the pictures to identify other animals, those were the only ones with the right coloring, but I think they're probably something else as they look much larger. I couldn't figure out how to mark other animals as "unknown" without choosing a species. Does anyone know what type of birds these are?

Use "Other" , no species. They are cormorants, also known as shags. When you read the FAQ (highly recommended ) FAQ 6 has a special section just on cormorants. So again, mark as "Other", click OK, don't choose a species.

All you need for accurate and fun marking is to read and follow the Frequently Asked Questions. Thanks for your question and help with marking.
