Penguin Watch Talk

Foreground vs. Background

When penguins are specks in the background of an image, should we try to mark as many as we can of those, too?

    Hi Janette Noelle,

I've just replied to the same question in the image comment to another image you classified: APZ0006x4u
    Copying my reply here:

It's a good question! The scientists need to count as many penguins as possible but they understand that it's not always possible. That's why they offer you to stop after marking at least 30 of them when there are more. If you cannot mark them all (any reason), or just aren't sure, just click on the 'Too many to mark' button(as you did) to let them know that more can be there. Read the FAQs for more.

As for me, I always mark as much as I can, even the distant ones, but always make sure I haven't missed anyone in the foreground.

Hope this answers your question. Thanks for asking and let us know if you had any more difficulties/questions about classifying.

    Enjoy the counting 😃

    Yshish
