Is the penguin lying down towards the front of the picture with the red and white stuff on its side hurt? What is that white and red stuff on it?

It is just dirty from a penguin poo. Their poo is red from krill which is the main component of penguin food. As they nest all together, they get easily hit by a pooping neighbour.
