Weird markings

In this image of the penguins I nodiced that some of the penguins had markings on there back and I was carios on what they where?

Hello Juliapenguins!
They are another penguin's poop. They sit very close to each other. When they poop they expel it very fast, so it often travels onto another penguin's back. This poop is white, but if they have been eating krill (like shrimp), their poop is red and it then looks like blood. So we do get comments that a penguin is injured, and it is simply covered in krill-filled poop 😉
