Penguin Watch Talk

what are these?

  • lesleylupo by lesleylupo

I keep getting pages with these birds. Are they cormorants of some kind? They don't seem to be on the list.
    Thanks!

Hi, @lesleylupo . Yes, they are cormorants as you thought. 😃 I did reply to your earlier question about cormorants here:

Cormorants/shags are discussed clearly in FAQ 6, so I'd ask you to please read the FAQ. Cormorants/shags are fish eaters, not predators of penguins, just as seals are usually not predators of penguins when on land. The "Other" list only contains penguins' land predators, along with two other factors that can harm/distress penguins: Humans and Vessels. Thus cormorants and any other unlisted animal are marked very easily as "Other", then "OK"- don't choose a species at all for them.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance for this question- glad to help!
