  Yes, it is. This is one of the mixed colonies with adelies and gentoos nests. I think there's a #seal in the background!

  Why pebbles? Do they provide insulation from the ground?

  Yes, they help to keep the eggs out of the water from moulting snow.. the best material they can find there! 😃
