Penguin Watch Talk
No birds but there is evidence.
I enjoy the tracks. Makes me ponder what the birds are doing.
I am not sure if that is a rock or a seal in the upper near the water.
The color and shape sure look like a living or once living animal. Any ideas?
I have no idea what I am looking at. What species are these birds?
I am not sure if those two birds out there on the ice are penguins. Someone with a better screen will have to figure it out.
I have a difficult distinguishing adult and chick chinstraps.
I think there might be an egg under the bird at the far left, but I am not sure.
I have no idea what birds I am seeing.
I think this is a nesting sight for some other bird and one lone, possibly soon to be dinner, penguin.
Today, as I was counting, I realize this site might not be here much longer. Good luck to all of the scientists.
When I reached 31 I stopped. What an amazing photo.
Perfect look at an egg!
There might be three more resting in the snowy center of the rocks.
I think there might be an egg in the upper right but I am not sure, so I didn't mark. I leave it to someone with a better screen to look.
I am sure I missed some but it is so dark I am not sure what is a bird and what is a rock.
Although I said I marked them all, I fear I may have missed some.
I once stopped at a place called Never Summer Mountain, I think this might be Never Sunny Beach.
but I wondered if there was evidence of predation. . I am hoping this coming season sees a larger waddle. It is great to hear that the area
Thank you so much for the information. This is the little group I love to see. I know that they could be part of the food chain .
Again, do you know what happened to the rest of this group?
I did not know what the six in the back were and marked them incorrectly.
Any idea why the group is smaller than in past years?
I see one skua in the middle of the path, where is the other?
Ok, so only 8 adults now when there are usually 16 nests. What happened?
I like this little group and noticed that later in the season only about eight are left. Any one know what happened?
I think there might be 4 more but they are so small I am not sure.
I missed the second one.
What is that on the left side?
I am not sure of the count as I was marking white chests.
To hazy for me to be able to be accurate.
It is to fuzzy for me to mark accurately. There seem to be chicks and I am unable to distinguish them.
I know there are chicks in this pic but I am unable to distinguish them from adults, all of the penguins appear
This is my favorite little group.
I missed one.
The photo is fuzzy and I am unable to tell chicks from adults.
I have difficulty distinguishing adults from chicks.
It is not there are too many but that they are far away and small.
This pic is very fuzzy. There might be a vessel in the upper right but it is not clear enough for me to tell.
Not too many, just not clear.
I forgot to change the type of penguin type. Sorry.
There are penguins, but to far away to be counted or identified.
There are two penguins in the picture and I cannot go back and mark them.
The birds in the right rear are to small for me to count.
The birds in the background are to small to count and identify.
I believe the birds with white on their backs are chicks. Correct?
