Is the research centered on specific species?

I have marked many pictures but have yet to see any King Penguins or Rockhoppers and only 1 random Macaroni Penguin mixing with the Chinstraps. So I was wondering if the study is focused on only several species?

There are King and Rockhopper colonies as part of the study but the scientists/tech people, are still working to get all of the latest batch of photos up on the site.
So far they have only got the photos from a small number of the sites. Pictures from the other sites (and with other species) will follow soon. There is more about the science, including maps of where the sites are and the species covered, on the science page: http://www.penguinwatch.org/#/science
So please keep counting and you will see a wider variety of sites and penguins soon.

Tom is currently very busy with giving ID numbers to cca 450,000 of new images! So you will have plenty ones to classify when he's done with them 😃
Stay tuned!
