It seems to be warmer than I would have expected. I have seen a handful of mid-winter pics of -5 to -10C but most seem to be above zero and some on the Falklands Island up to 23C.
Is that usual sort of weather? or maybe I have just by chance got a disproportionate number of summer photos.

You might have a slightly unlucky sample, but on the coast and on the islands that's relatively normal. The sea buffers the temperature quite a lot. In summer on the Antarctic peninsula, it wavers just above and just below freezing, the Falklands +15 ish.
Generally, you have to go a few miles inland to get the really cold temperatures in Antarctica, but the windchill is absolutely amazing- it's usually blowing hard.
