3.1 The camera is very distant from the closest objects
- Sometimes the camera spies a distant colony. If those animals are too small for you to mark any, please, mark at least one before ticking the ‘There were too many penguins to mark’ option.

3.2 There are both close and distant objects
- Mark as many of the foreground animals as you can. If they are too small to be marked accurately (location 1 and 2) you can ignore the distant ones. Then tick the ‘There were too many penguins to mark’ option.

3.3 Swimming animals / Flying birds
- You don’t have to mark any swimming animals.
- If there are distant birds flying above the sea/land and are too small to be identified (even by a scientist), don’t mark them.

- If there are too many other animals, it is OK to mark only those closest to the colony.

3.4 There are too many penguins to mark
- We really appreciate when you continue marking over 30 penguins (and we’re very happy when you mark them all! 😃 ). It’s better to start with the foreground ones.
- If there are more penguins than you can mark, please, finish with “There were too many penguins to mark”.

3.5 Zoom options
- When you place a mark, a magnifier appears. You can close it by clicking on the little cross on its margin.
- Clicking out of the magnifier closes it automatically.
- You can use the magnifier for ‘adult’ penguins for observing other animals and then just cancel the mark before using the proper one.
- You can move the magnifier freely across the image.
