egg question

  do penguins ever substitute a rock for an egg?

  Not a scientist, but I think it would be unlikely. They can tell the difference between a live and dead egg, so they'd probably be able to figure out if they made a mistake. I do kinda remember seeing a penguin sitting on a rock from a documentary I watched one time, but that could have just be taken out of context.

  thanks for the answers, just thinking if a distressed female would do that, though would probably steal an egg.
