Top Half of Photo Dark

  • Michigan286 by Michigan286

On several photos, the top half is very dark, with a distinct line between the halves. (Not perfect halves -- sometimes at an angle.) The refresh button doesn't help. Yet when I view those photos on my profile (i.e. the photos I have finished), no more black top half -- the whole photo is light and visible. I am on a desktop computer. Perhaps I should skip those, figuring someone else will get to them and be able to see the whole photo? Or do it but add a comment?

Hi Michigan286. Don't worry, ALL IS WELL. The scientists want to concentrate on certain groups of penguins, but the camera shows other groups in the background. So they shade out those unwanted groups as best as they can. If you try to count penguins within that shade your indicator will turn to a small 'no entry' sign.
Strangely when you see the picture not during classification the shading cannot show up. When you've done a few classifications you do get used to seeing the shaded areas.
So go ahead and count happily, and no need to comment on the shading.
If you do find any other trouble with those photos do always ask us...
